WCC has always had several weekend events that allow riders to visit and ride in areas that are far from the mindane.  As rides for 2024 are planned, you will see them here first.  Today I am announcing the first planned weekend.

1) TUSH TUNEUP WEEKEND - The weekend of April 27-28. WCC has a long history of this event.  COVID cancelled it for many years. NO)W the issue is that ALL the HOTELS in Great Barrington have a 7 day cencellation policy!!! WCC has managed to get a 3 DAY cancellation from the Quality Inn (formerly Days' Inn).  THAT APPLIES ONLY IF BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY ARE FORECAST TO RAIN.

While this policy does NOT Cancel the event, it does change HOW we do it.

On Saturday, there will be 3 choices for DAY Rides starting from SOUTH of Great Barrington - Riders will leave their cars in their choice of 3 places Ride UP to Great Barrington (or Close by) and Back to the starting point.  Those wanting a shorter ride will have a cutoff on the Alice's Restaurant Ride at at least 2 locations.         The Dirty Alices Route has no cutoffs but has never needed one.                                                                                                          THEN we drive the rest of the way to Great Barrington at the Quality Inn to stry overnight - Party with the other members and go out to dinner with friends at your choice of local restaurants.  We will be collecting a small amount from all riders to cover the cost of the party - Soft Drinks , Beer, and Snacks - and Pizza for dinner appetizer.                                                                                                                                                                                                            On SUNDAY - rides will depart at 9am from the Inn.  There will be Road and Gravel Options from 30 miles on up.After your rides you head home.             WHY?  Because 1 day of rain out of two may cut your weekend short, but you don't have to ride 38 to 70 miles back to your car in the rain!!!

Those who wish to to the OLD Tush Tuneup Routes are Free to do so, but need to make their own plans in case of Rain on SUnday.

In case of Rain on Saturday, we Drive to Great Barrington Saturday, Have the Party and Dinner there, and Shuttle to Salisbury or Cornwall Bridge Sunday Morning after Breakfast for the Alice's or Dirty Alice's Routes.

2) Martha's Vineyard on Memorial Day Weekend!   For those of you who have not done this event in the past, you might wonder how much riding is there on an island?  We have done routes up to 65+ miles on Martha's, taken ferries to Chappaquidick and ridden their gravel roads.  The scenery is unparalleled, with long ocean vistas, beaches, Lighthouses, backcountry barns, horses, alpacas and lots of wild turkeys.  At night there is great food, walks through streets lined with candy cottages, liveily music in bars and restaurants, and strolling the shops of Oak Bluffs and Edgartown.  Rides will be planned on the afternoon of Friday May 24th with Longer rides Saturday and Sunday and the option to add on a short ride before returning home on Monday, May 27th Memorial day.  Come for the long weekend, or just Saturday and Sunday, it is up to you.  Base Hotel will be the Dockside Inn, but Oak Bluffs is full of options from B&B's to fancy hotels. All details will be on the rides board, but the best rooms may book early, so it is never to early to book.JULY 13

3) SHELTER ISLAND Ride - Ferry from New London to Orient Point - Flat Ride to shelter island (Ferry Across and Back  Various Options for Lunch and Dinner - TAKE FERRY Back to NEW LONDON  - This is a SOUND CYCLISTS ANNUAL EVENT and now WCC Members are invited.

On Saturday we start with he same routes but finish with explorqaation of the bridges islands and locks along the St Lawrence and even including an optional climb to the top of Mount Real for scenic views before heading back to the states to our hotel in Plattsburgh.  Hotels in both Cities have a ONE Day cancellation policy.

5) Seacoast Century - September 21

We are coordinating on these rides with Sound Cyclists to make certain we have decent turnouts and to share some of their rides we have not done before.  We are looking for VOLUNTEERS to help coordinate these events and plan for MORE!
