Westchester Cycle Club's premiere fall cycling event

Enjoy perfect weather and peak fall foliage* while cycling on beautiful Hudson Valley roads.

Something for everyone!

All routes start and end at Best Plumbing & Tile in Somers, just one-half mile west of the Goldens Bridge Metro-North station. Be green and carpool or take the train to the ride!

Registration is open from 7-10am!

Experience the beauty of autumn in upper Westchester County from two wheels! All routes are well marked with signs and ride marshals at key locations.

Pre-registered riders will receive the final route links for use with GPS devices a few days before the ride. Printed cue sheets will be available at registration.

Golden Apple riders

Easy Rider 25 miles
Elevation: 1,200'
Recommended start time: 9:30-10:30am for full support

A combination of scenic Hudson Valley roads and the peaceful North County Trailway. One rest stop at mile 15. Ride with friends or choose one of our guided options (leaving at 9:30am and 10:15am).

Scenic 42 miles
Elevation: 2,200'
Recommended start time: 9-10am for full support

For those looking to get out for a few hours but don't want to spend all day riding or if you prefer riding at a social pace. This scenic route passes through Ward Pound Ridge Reservation before heading to Katonah and around the Croton Reservoir. One rest stop at mile 21.

Half Century 51 miles
Elevation: 2,800'
Recommended Start Time: 8-9am for full support

Have a bit more time or want a little more of a challenge? Enjoy our half century! This route starts through Katonah and Yorktown before heading East to ride through beautiful North Salem and around Peach Lake. One rest stop at mile 26.

Metric Century 68 miles
Elevation: 3,500'
Recommended start time: 7:30-8:30am for full support

Challenge yourself to a fall metric century and earn your post-ride lunch! Ride past gorgeous fall foliage as you pass through Katonah, Yorktown, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, and Bedford Hills! Two rest stops at mile 26 and mile 47.

Golden Apple Century 93 and 100 miles
Elevation: 5,100'

Recommended start time: no later than 7:30am for full support

Our longest route is also the hilliest! See the best of the Hudson Valley's foliage as you pedal along scenic roads in Katonah, Yorktown, Ward Pound Ridge, Bedford Hills, North Salem and around Peach Lake. Three rest stops at 26 miles, 47 miles, and 68 miles. Enjoy your post-ride meal at 93 miles or embark on our optional 7 mile loop to make this route an even 100 miles.

What is the Golden Apple?

The Golden Apple is Westchester Cycle Club's premiere fall cycling event. 2016 marks the 34th year the ride has been held. This fully-supported ride features routes through gorgeous upper Westchester county, well-stocked rest stops, SAG and mechanical support, and a post-ride lunch.

Several routes to choose from! All routes begin and end at Best Plumbing in Somers, NY - convenient to Goldens Bridge Metro-North station.

How do I get there? Can I park at Best Plumbing?

Our event begins and ends at Best Plumbing & Tile in Somers, NY, just one-half mile west of Goldens Bridge Metro North station. There is no parking at Best Plumbing however you may park at Goldens Bridge and ride over to the start. Be green and carpool or take the train to the ride!

What is included in my registration fee?

  • Your choice of scenic routes through beautiful upper Westchester County
  • Cue sheets and GPS file
  • Well-stocked rest/aid stations
  • Full SAG support
  • Post-ride lunch

What do I need to bring?

This is a fully supported ride with well stocked rest stops and SAG support. You must bring:
  • Helmet - must be worn when riding!
  • Bike bell - by NY state law!
  • Photo ID for registration
  • Cash or Card - to buy sweet WCC merchandise at the finish!
  • Extra tube, tools, and pump
  • Water bottle or hydration pack

Are the roads closed to traffic?

The roads are open to traffic. Cyclists must obey all traffic laws while on this ride.

It looks like rain/is too cold for me - can I get a refund?

The Golden Apple Ride is a “rain or shine” event so no refunds are given for weather. In the event of severe weather, we will be in touch!
